Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Morphettville trainer Daniel Clarken has confirmed he will resume Blue Diamond Stakes winner Miracles Of Life in the 2013 HDF McNeil Stakes at Caulfield at the end of the month kicking off her Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival raid.
The now three-year-old daughter of Not A Single Doubt was one of the best juveniles getting around during the summer.
Undefeated in her four career openers she kicked things off with two emphatic wins at home in Adelaide including a nine length effort in a 1050m handicap for her age in early January.
That was enough to convince Clarken and connections to send her to Melbourne where she continued that form with a big four and a half length victory in the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies Preview (1000m) on Australia Day.
It was then straight to elite level for Miracles Of Life who became a Group 1 champion in February with her victory over the boys in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
She races hasn’t raced since but was being considered to go first-up into the $135,000 Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield this Saturday.
Wanting to make sure she’s 100 percent fit and ready to dominate from the get go however Clarken has opted to save her for August 31 where she’ll run in the $150,000 Group 3 HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m).
Clarken made the announcement after Miracles Of Life’s impressive trial victory at Morphettville on Monday.
While she didn’t face much in the five-horse hitout over 1000m it was still a superstar performance as she put an easy six and a half lengths on her closest rival when ridden by regular jockey Lauren Stojakovic.
“She trialled beautifully,” Clarken told The Advertiser.
“We were out there to have a good clean-out and that’s all we needed to do.
“Lauren couldn’t hold her any slower on the corner, she just slipped her a list rein and she rolled to the line by herself.
“She had a nice little blow and that’s what we were here for. It looked good, she will benefit greatly from the trial.
“We figured if we went to Victoria over 1100m first-up, without a trial and with weight on our back – that would have been a big ask.
“We decided to trial here and then go to the McNeil.”
Another possible runner in the McNeil Stakes this year is the David Hayes-trained Gregers who was a recent winner at Moonee Valley.
Like Gregers, Miracles Of Life is heading towards the majors for their kind this season having been nominated for the $500,000 Group 1 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) back at Caulfield on Wednesday October 16.
As for the path she’ll tread going to the 2013 Thousand Guineas, Clarken is weighing up options including the $175,000 Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) on September 21.
“We can go to a Thousand Guineas Preludeover 1400m and then the Thousand Guineas from there,” he said.
“Or we can come back to Adelaide. There are a host of three-year-old races over the shorter trip.”
Post-Thousand Guineas Miracles Of Life could then be set for an even bigger task taking on the older horses in the $1 million Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday October 25.
“Possibly she could go to the Blue Sapphire into the Manikato or the Blue Sapphire into the Coolmore,” he said speaking of the $500,000 Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day, Saturday November 2.
