H.G. Bolton Sprint Final Field And Barrier Draw Released

The Listed H.G. Bolton Sprint (1200m) is the feature race at Belmont on Saturday for the last weekend metropolitan meeting of the 2012/2013 racing season.

The Bolton Sprint field is headlined by David Harrison trained Settle Strada who recorded a very impressive win in the Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) at Belmont a fortnight ago.

The son of Strada hit the lead with 100 metres left to run and ran away in the final stages of the race to record a comfortable two length victory.

Settle Strada, who will start from barrier seven, has proven capable of stringing together wins, after recording four straight victories in the winter of last year, and is expected to start the Bolton Sprint as a clear favourite.

The only other last start winner in the field is Barnsley Lad who will make his first appearance at the races since finishing his summer campaign with three straight wins.

The four-year-old gelding will be making his debut at listed level but is a very consistent performer who rarely runs a bad race.

Top-weight Zester has been allocated 59kg by the handicapper and will jump from barrier three.

The Danewin gelding resumed when finishing ninth in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) on June 1 and produced an improved performance carrying the top weight in the Beaufine Stakes.

Zester has previously been competitive in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) and the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) and will be very difficult to beat if he performs at his best.

Another Bolton Sprint acceptor who has previously performed well at the highest level of racing is Pop Culture whose connections are hoping will bounce back from a disappointing performance first-up in the Beaufine Stakes.

The 2012 Group 3 Western Australian Oaks (2400m) winner will relish the step-up to 1200 metres and should prove far more competitive over the longer trip.

Pop Culture will carry 58.5kg and jump from barrier nine while Beaufine Stakes runner-up The Entourage has drawn the outside barrier.

The full 2013 H.G. Bolton Sprint field, barriers and jockeys can be found in the table below.
