Ever since Black Caviar’s retirement was announced back in April, speculation has been rampant about which stallion she would be sent to first and in the past month it was revealed that the list of contenders had been narrowed down to Redoute’s Choice, Fastnet Rock, More Than Ready, Casino Prince, Northern Meteor and Exceed And Excel.

Despite the media speculation, managing part-owner Neil Werrett has refused to confirm the selection of Exceed And Excel stating that an announcement would not be made until tomorrow night.

“I’ll try contacting the studs tomorrow to let them know our decision, they’ve been very good to us,” Werrett told News Limited.

“We’ll then make an announcement on Wednesday night, if not Thursday night.

“We wanted to leave it until as late as we could.”

Exceed And Excel will be named Australian Champion Sire next week after an outstanding season that saw his progeny take out the two-year-old triple crown, with Overreach claiming the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) and Guelph winning the Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and Champagne Stakes (1600m), and win over $11 million in prizemoney.

The thirteen-year-old has a global reputation after producing European Group 1 star Excelebration and in 2013 has produced more stakes winner than any other stallion in the world.

The son of Danehill was retired at the end of his three-year-old season, that was highlighted by victories in the 2003 Group 1 Dubai Racing Club Cup (1400m) and the 2004 Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m), finishing his racing career with seven wins from twelve starts and over $1 million in prizemoney.

Black Caviar was retired in April with an undefeated record of twenty-five wins from twenty-five race starts and an incredible fifteen Group 1 victories.

The once in a generation equine superstar capture the imagination of the Australian public like no horse since the great Phar Lap and there is sure to be unprecedented interest in her progeny over the coming years.
