Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2012/2013 racing season may be coming to a close but there is still a number of black type races taking place around the country with the Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) the feature race at Belmont on Saturday.
Set to jump as Race 7 at 5.55pm (AEST) the 2013 Beaufine Stakes has drawn an interesting field of ten runners.
The early favourite in Beaufine Stakes betting markets is Steve Wolfe-trained Kalahaar who is appearance at the races for the first time since his sixth place finish in the Norton Rose (1400m).
The Choisir gelding had a successful campaign earlier this year that was highlighted by an impressive victory at Ascot on Australia Day.
Kalahaar is available at odds of $2.80 to record his first race victory at Listed level.
Bookies currently have the Beaufine Stakes as a race in two with four-year-old Right Time on the second line of betting at $2.90.
Right Time is also looking for his first black type win and connections are hopeful he can improve on his fourth place finish in last year’s edition of the race.
Other leading hopes include Honest Lies ($6) and Settle Strada ($6.50).
Will one of the favourites score in the Beaufine Stakes or can a roughie cause an upset?
Our team of racing experts have analysed the Beaufine Stakes form guide to come up with the best betting tips.
1st– #8 Right Time ($2.90)
Right Time has performed well without winning his last few starts and looks well placed to score his first Listed race win in the Beaufine Stakes. The Snippetson gelding is a consistent performer who is full of pace and relishes the 1000m course at Belmont. If he jumps well he will be very difficult to beat.
2nd – #2 Pop Culture ($21)
Pop Culture will be making her first appearance at the races since her fourth place finish in the Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day. The four-year-old mare is clearly the class animal in the field but will probably find the 1000m a bit short for her liking. She will be finding the line well and at her current odds is a good each-way bet.
3rd – #4 Acorns ($26)
Acorns has been competitive at Group level in Melbourne in the past and if he can find his best form will be a contender in this race. The experience galloper is capable of producing peak performances and is another good each-way bet.
