2013 Belmont Oaks Field & Barriers – Perth Racing

Adam Durrant’s smart filly Summah’s Touch will vie for a black type Belmont Park double this Saturday when she backs up from a Belmont Guineas win over the boys in the Belmont Oaks 2013.

Set to run as Race 7 at 3:55pm (local time) this year’s $80,000 Listed Gold Front Thoroughbreds Belmont Oaks (2000m) has attracted a final field of 14 three-year-old fillies.

Heading the Belmont Oaks field and likely the odds too once betting commences at bookmaker.com.au is Blackfiars filly Summah’s Touch.

Second-up this time in the WA Oaks runner-up was last seen beating a decent field after overcoming barrier 11 of 11 in the Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) on June 22.

She was ridden by apprentice hoop Ben Paterson for that run and Paterson retains the ride on Saturday with Summah’s Touch to appreciate the set weight conditions of the Oaks.

Durrant will also be represented in the race by Redwood Rose (barrier nine) who will be ridden by Peter Knuckey taking over for Daniel Staeck who rode her last start.

Staeck meanwhile is without a mount in Saturday’s feature.

There are then two other last start winning fillies in the mix after successive victories when they line-up against Summah’s Touch on Saturday.

The first is the Grant WilliamsFashion Princess who has suffered an early blow with the far outside barrier.

A daughter of Iffraaj, Fashion Princess posted her second career win in the Perthracing.com.au Handicap (1700m) beating a number of these on June 19.

Also coming off a Belmont Park victory is then Joe Byrne’s Trade Fair filly Lady Trader who finally broke her maiden status on June 26 at start number nine.

Lady Trader has gate 11 on Saturday with Troy Turner retaining the ride as the duo seek back-to-back wins over the track and distance.

Other notable hopes then include the Lou & Dion Luciania-trained WA Oaks third placegetter Pants On Friar (barrier five) coming off a second at Pinjarra over the mile, another Blackfriars filly in Charm Destiny (barrier three) who was third behind Fashion Princess last time out, and the lightly-raced Miss Radler (barrier 10) who has run top four in her opening four starts to date but who is yet to win.

The complete 2013 Belmont Oaks field, barriers, jockeys and set weights are listed below with betting on the Perth races this weekend to open shortly at bookmaker.com.au.
