Destiny’s Kiss A Dominant Winner – 2013 Winter Cup Results

Joe Pride’s progressive stayer Desinty’s Kiss has signalled his potential for bigger things to come after delivering a dominant win in the Listed 2013 Winter Cup (2400m) at Rosehill today.

Despite being typically slow out of the gates, the four-year-old showed why he was a $3.30 favourite, producing a long, sustained sprint for home and crossing the line 2 1/2 lengths in front of Fiumicino and Thebigiam.

It was the second win in as many starts for the staying gelding who is likely to chase a hat-trick in the Listed Grafton Cup on Thursday week.

“I’d love to see him up at Grafton but in saying that I’d love to see a soft track up at Grafton. We’ll keep an eye on the weather and another eye on the horse,” Pride said.

“He’s still on the way up…he’s going through the grades nicely and today’s race really suited him.”

“He’s a good little stayer.”

It was jockey Christian Reith’s second time aboard the son of Power Of Destiny and he believes he is on a path to bigger things.

“From the 1000m (mark) we had a beautiful run…once I was on Fiumicino’s back I knew we were going to be very hard to to beat, ” Reith said.

“He’s very versatile. He’s still learning the trade but he’s an up-and-coming stayer and they should have a lot of fun with him.”

Peal Of Bells was also well backed after winning his two previous starts but the Gwenda Markwell-trained gelding was never in the race, eventually finishing 23 1/2 lengths off the winner in last place.
