Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes 2013 Betting – Two 2YO’s Share Top Spot

Two up-and-coming juveniles are currently fighting for favouritism for one of the five black type features on Tattersall’s Tiara Day at Eagle Farm on the weekend with Octane Flyer and Enquare heading the markets for the 2013 Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes.

Running as the first major stakes race on the card this Saturday the $100,000 Listed Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes (1400m) is scheduled as Race 4 at 1:55pm (AEST) and has drawn a final field of 11 youngsters.

Two of those dominate the latest Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes betting markets at a quote of $2.80 with the Kelly Schweida-trained local Octane Flyer with the outside barrier (11) to overcome and Jason McLachlan’s lightly-raced Enquare in gate six.

Statue Of Liberty colt Octane Flyer showed promise earlier in the year winning at Eagle Farm third-up but failed to match it with the better class two-year-olds in the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival majors for their age.

They capped off three testing Group race assignments when sixth to Romantic Touch beaten only three lengths in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) on June 8 and are sure to appreciate the step back to 1400m and Listed company on Saturday.

Enquare meanwhile is yet to be stepped up to Group company despite a number of good efforts in Listed features this prep.

A first-up Doomben winner in the mud Enquare loves the give out of the ground and could firm into the sole favourite if the predicted rain for Brisbane falls before Saturday.

The Stratum filly has run top three in her past two starts most recently crossing less than a half length off Missy Longstocking in the Listed Hampden Stakes (1200m) on Stradbroke Day.

Following the top two picks for the Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes are then two other hopes under $10 with Architect ($5.50) and Cannyzing ($7).

Bel Espirt gelding Architect, prepared by David Lawlor locally, shoed nice improvement last Saturday when taken to Ipswich to win a 2YO open handicap over 1100m on a Slow (7), the known mudlark another that will be well backed if the track is Slow – Heavy for Tatt’s Tiara Day.

The Harold Norman-trained Canny Lad two-year-old Cannyzing meanwhile looks one of the top fancies for an upset showing very consistent form with two wins and two places from their five career starts to date.

This time in they were the first-up winner over 1200m at Murwillumbah before hitting Eagle Farm at the start of the month to finish third behind Sir Moments in the Listed The Phoenix (1400m) at Eagle Farm giving them nice experience over the same track and distance they see on Saturday.
