In-form Two-year-olds in 2013 Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes Field

They may not be the cream of the nation’s juvenile crop but an in-form 11-horse field has been named to contest the Listed 2013 Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Set to jump as race four on the Tatt’s Tiara day program, the field boasts three last-start winners and a further three horses arriving on the back of a top-three finish.

Among those heading into the black-type test in good form is Gold Coast filly Forward Speed who is yet to finish worse than third in three career outings. The John Peterson-trained youngster faces an obvious rise in grade this weekend but is coming off a solid victory at the Gold Coast on June 5.

The most experienced horse in the field is David Lawlor-trained gelding Architect who returned to the winner’s circle in the Gold Grange Plate at Ipswich on Saturday. From 12 career starts the son of Bel Esprit has won twice and scored four minor placings.

The other horse to taste success at their most recent outing is Liam Birchley’s promising filly Nicked And Court. But the lightly-raced juvenile will have to make considerable improvement if she is to go back to back, with her maiden victory coming at Kilcoy last weekend.

Kelly Schweida-trained colt Octane Flyer will appreciate a significant drop back in grade after finishing three lengths off winner Romantic Touch when sixth in the Group 1 JJ Atkins on June 8.

Octane Flyer is a dual city winner and placed at Group 3 level in Sydney in March but has failed to fire in his past three starts.

Others contesting the day’s two-year-old feature are Kelso Wood’s My Boy Brando and last-start runner-ups Enquare and Casino Benjo.

Markets will open shortly on all the Eagle Farm action and is the place to back a winner!
