Summan’s Touch Feels for 2013 Belmont Oaks Start

Next month’s Belmont Oaks 2013 is on the horizon for classy Lark Hill-based filly Summah’s Touch but first she must take on the boys in Saturday’s $80,000 Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m).

Continuing the late season action in Perth this weekend, the 2013 Belmont Guineas is set to attract a top field of local three-year-olds including Adam Durrant’s daughter of Blackfriars Summah’s Touch.

Well experienced already with 14 starts to her name, the $30,000 yearling buy from the 2011 Magic Millions Perth Sales has won close to $191,000 in prize money which she will be looking to add to in the Guineas.

With three victories and six other minor places on her record Summah’s Touch is a genuine staying type with form up to a mile and a half which she saw last start on April 6 for her second behind Moreish in the Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) at Ascot.

She hasn’t won a race since January however when beating home Brocky’s Deal in juveniles’ feature over 1500m and will be out to break the drought this weekend.

While her record racing fresh isn’t exactly imposing she showed Durrant she was ready to get back to race conditions at the start of the month with a blistering four length trial win over 1450m at her home track on the fourth.

Following the Belmont Guineas Summah’s Touch will then take on her own kind again on July 6 when she runs in the $80,000 Listed Belmont Oaks over 2000m.

“She’ll start first-up in the Guineas then go on to the Belmont Oaks,” Durrant confirmed.
