Belora to Bring Noske Hyperion Stakes 2013 Success

Jockey Jarrad Noske will reunite with the Dan Morton-trained Belora for the first time since the summer when opting to take the ride on them in Saturday’s 2013 Hyperion Stakes at Belmont over Bunbry Cup winner Destroy.

The Perth Cup-winning jockey rode his father Jeff Noske’s Natural Blitz four-year-old Destroy to victory in the Listed Bunbury Cup (2200m) back in March but hops off them for the first time since following their two recent disappointing runs.

The gelding was last seen running fourth to Kerrific in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) and Noske has his doubts they would be able to improve enough on that to challenge in the $125,000 Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) this weekend.

“It was a tough call getting off the family horse, but the mile might be a bit sharp for Destroy,” Noske said.

Instead he will chase the WA Group trophy with another Hyperion hopeful, Oratorio five-year-old Belora who he rode to their credible seventh place finish behind Luckygray in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) last December.

Paul King is then booked for the ride on Destory.

Belora is sure to start one of the top fancies in the 16-horse Hyperion Stakes field after their nice second in the Belmont Sprint from a wide gate (13 of 16) and Noske thinks the mile will suit them to a tee.

“The mile is really Belora’s pet distance. The race looks suitable for him with not much speed,” he said.

While Belmont Sprint winner Kerrific looks the one to beat again after their good barrier seven draw for Saturday, Belora cannot be discounted having also come up trumps with gate two.

Noske said he would be back in Destory’s saddle next start when they get over a more suitable trip for the $125,000 Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Belmont on July 13.

“I’ll be back on him in the 2000 race which will be more to his liking,” he said.
