2013 Gai Waterhouse Classic Nominations – Ipswich Cup Day

The action of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival continues this weekend with Ipswich Cup Day featuring three black type features one of which is the Gai Waterhouse Classic 2013.

This year’s Ipswich Cup Day races attracted a total of 220 nominations across the program including 26 for the $100,000 Listed Sky Racing World Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m) which is open to fillies and mares only.

Last year’s winning trainer David Pfieffer took out the feature with the aptly named Gai’s Choice and is back in 2013 seeking successive victories this time with Easy Rocking mare Cradle Me and the resuming Triple Six.

Among their top-rated rivals are the likes of the Liam Birchley-trained Group 3 winner Whateverwhenever, John O’Shea-trained Strategic mare Bound To Blush, Peter Snowden’s classy Commands five-year-old Classics, the out of form Peter Blazen-trained Punch On and Kris Lees’ last start Bright Shadow Handicap runner-up Sharnee Rose.

Other notable chances coming off some good recent form are Danbird mare Alcancia, last start Doomben winner Ametsis who is also nominated for the $175,000 Listed Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at the same meeting, and Rob Heathcote’s Hidden Kisses out to improve on her 11th in the Glenglona Park Stakes last month.

The full 2013 Gai Waterhouse Classic nominations are detailed below with final acceptances closing tomorrow morning.

While you wait for the official Ipswich race fields for the weekend why not treat yourself to a bonus bet valued up to a juicy $500 simply by opening a new account with the country’s premier online bookie bookmaker.com.au, depositing and quoting the code BONUSBET!
