2013 Doomben 10,000 Day Best Bets

Racing in Brisbane is top class today with a bumper nine race program set to light up Doomben Racecourse for Doomben 10,000 Day headlined of course by the $650,000 Group 1 Carlton Mid Doomben 10,000 (1350m).

Earlier in the week we published our insider Doomben 10,000 Day Tips 2013 with our trifecta tips for all the Doomben races running today.

But to help you really clean out the bookies below we have detailed our Brisbane best bets of the day including the best valued roughie of the day and which horse to back to become Australia’s latest Group 1 winner in the meeting’s big one.

In The Big One – Race 8 – Doomben 10,000

#15 Better Than Ready ($10)

We are tipping this one as a battle of the three-year-olds with Peter Snowden’s Golden Rose winner Epaulette and local More Than Ready colt Better Than Ready battling it out for the win.

The crew are divided with some saying Epaulette will have the fresh legs and the class, while others are looking at that BTC Cup third from Better Than Ready and tipping improvement.

So who do you take? Lock them both in Each Way but put an extra Win bet on Better Than Ready with that nice barrier one draw seeing as the sun is out!

Best Roughie Bet – Race 5 – BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes

#2 Octane Flyer ($51)

When it comes to good value the place bets are often the way to go and here we have a beauty for the fifth on the card, the $250,000 Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m).

We have a juicy Trifecta picked out here with the lightly raced Le Val ($12) to beat home Zoustar ($3.60) and roughie pick Octane Flyer.

Octane Flyer however looks way over the odds for us and we are willing to forgive the local Kelly Schweida-trained colt their last start seventh in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Bit of an easier assignment here on paper, get up in distance which will suit (they ran third over 1400m from a wide gate back in March), and should get a gun run from barrier two today.

Better Than Bank Interest – Race 4 – Glenlogan Park Stakes

#4 Arinosa ($2.15)

Looking like a good day for the bookies and roughie backers today with few favourites making it into our Doomben 10,000 Day winning tips.

Arinosa however is one shortie in the markets we can’t go past to win the $150,000 Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m).

Drawn in gate three, into two with the current scratchings, the Chris Waller-trained Dash For Cash mare is in red hot form having won her past two starts at Group level in Sydney.

After a good effort over Shamal Wind in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) in March the five-year-old easily accounted for her rivals when taking out the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) by 4.5 lengths on April 13 – form that’s hard to go past – and a winning barrier trial earlier this month too just to keep that fitness up for the winter.
