Sydney colt Zoustar will start as favourite in Saturday’s Group 2 2013 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1300m) at Doomben where he will chase a third straight win.
The Chris Waller-trained juvenile is the $3.30 top elect in the BRC Sires' Produce betting market after some impressive performances to begin his career.
The son of Northern Meteor won on debut at Canterbury in April and backed it up with a one-length win at Hawkesbury on May 4.
Waller had originally planned to run his youngster at Randwick on Saturday but a wet track has forced him north.
“He was no good thing here and he’s going to be no good thing there but he’s a nice horse and he deserves his chance,” Waller said.
Zoustar is one of two Waller-trained runners in the field, joined by $7.50 chance Vilanova. Vilanova will be having his second start in Queensland after running second in the Champagne Classic two weeks ago.
Second favourite for Saturday’s two-year-old feature race is local filly Missy Longstocking who is backing up seven days after winning the Lancaster Stakes.
The Liam Birchley-trained filly has drawn the inside barrier for the hit-out. That is expected to help Missy Longstocking, with jockey Damian Browne suggesting after Saturday’s win she will need an easy run to sprint out the 1350m.
Also high up in betting is Patinack’s boom colt Hooked ($8) who won the first two starts of his career before running fourth in the Champagne Classic from a wide barrier.
Also under double figures is Sydney filly Bound For Earth ($8.50) while last-start local winners Le Val and Vo Heart are at $15 and $16 respectively.
