16 two-year-olds in 2013 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes Field

A full 16-horse field of juveniles will contest the Group 2 2013 BRC Sire’s Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday, a race that stands as a crucial lead-up to next month’s Group 1 JJ Atkins.

In an even field, there are plenty of in-form gallopers including Liam Birchely-trained filly Missy Longstocking.

The Magic Millions third placegetter has drawn barrier one and will be backing up just seven days after winning the Lancaster Stakes.

From the inside alley the speedy filly should be able to get the comfortable run that jockey Damian Browne believes she requires to run a strong 1350m.

“She’s going to have to have a pretty soft run to get that sort of trip but she’s all heart and that’s a big thing,” Browne said after Saturday’s win.

Lining up to add a second Group 2 win to his resume is Sunshine Coast-based gelding Vo Heart.

The son of Show A Heart was impressive when winning the Champagne Classic at Eagle Farm on May 11 in heavy conditions but don’t be fooled into thinking he is just a wet tracker.

Two starts back the Darryl Hansen-trained youngster ran a strong second to Patinack’s talented two-year-old Hooked on a Dead 4.

Hooked finished fourth in the Champagne Classic and will get the chance to turn the tables this weekend from barrier three.

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller is not shy to travel his horses and he has accepted with both Zoustar and Vilanova.

Zoustar is unbeaten from two starts while Vilanova was runner-up in the Champagne Classic.

Champagne Classic third placegetter Global Dream is expected to improve with distance for Tony Gollan while also in the field are last-start winners Le Val and Rosenet.
