Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Don’t forget about the west this weekend as there is some quality racing taking place at Perth’s Belmont Racecourse including the Group 3 2013 Roma Cup (1200m).
Featuring a host of Perth’s big-race regulars, the Roma Cup seem talented mare Power Princess resume.
And at least according to the Roma Cup market, she’ll be hard to beat.
The six-year-old sprinter has gone up a $2 favourite for her first race since December.
At Perth’s summer racing carnival, the daughter of Marwina’s form could hardly have been better. She won the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes and Group 3 Schill Stakes as well as running second to Barakey in the Group 1 Winterbottom.
From 26 starts, the Simon Miller-trained galloper has won 11 times and recorded seven minor placings.
While she takes on some quality rivals this weekend, none of them are out-and-out sprinters like her.
Second favourite in betting is Ranger who is rated a $4.60 chance.
The six-year-old gelding produced a strong trial win over Power Princess in the lead-up but is in the middle of a serious winning drought.
Ranger hasn’t passed the post in front since the Group 2 Lee-Steere Stakes in November 2011.
Other runners under double figures are Playing God and Cavallo Pazzo who are both rated as $8.50 chances.
Playing God is resuming after running 14th in the Perth Cup while Cavallo Pazzo is coming off consecutive placings at Listed level.
In good form and at big odds of $12 is Kerrific who won the Listed Grandstand Cup last start. That run was preceded by a second in the Pinjarra Classic.
