Open 2013 BRC Sprint Betting Market

If the market is anything to go by, the Group 3 2013 BRC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday is set to be a closely contested affair.

In a hot race with plenty of chances, in-form Sydney sprinter Famous Seamus is a slight favourite at $5.50 from Peter Moody-trained gelding Ready To Rip ($6).

Famous Seamus is being set for the Stradbroke Handicap and will chase a third straight win this weekend after a successful beginning to his Queensland campaign.

Occupying the third line of betting at $7.50 is Joe Pride-trained gelding See The World who brings strong form to Brisbane.

The Danzero six-year-old won at Listed level in March and has since placed at his two most recent starts.

There is a logjam of horses in the $9-11 range and one of those is Fire Up Fifi.

The $9 chance is a consistent galloper and was running home strongly last start when third in the Prime Minister’s Cup.

Prime Minister’s Cup runner-up River Lad ($11) could be the value in the race, with the Sunshine Coast-based gelding having finished in top three at his past four starts.

Joining River Lad at $11 is Hot Snitzel who struggled last start but was a Group 3 winner at the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

At $13 is former Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready who has been a consistent performer without winning.

In fact, the six-year-old’s last win was his Golden Slipper triumph, which occurred way back in April 2009.

There is quality littered throughout the field including at big prices and others contesting the BRC Sprint are Smokin’ Joey ($9.50),  Mahisara ($10), Belltone ($13) and Startsmeup ($21).
