BTC Cup winner Your Song is a clear favourite to add the second leg of Brisbane’s Group 1 sprint treble to his resume in Saturday week’s 2013 Doomben 10,000 (1350m).
The three-year-old upset a host of more experienced rivals to record a five-length drubbing in the BTC Cup and is rated a $3.20 chance to repeat the dose in the Doomben 10,000.
The Anthony Cummings-trained sprinter is in his final campaign, following fellow colts Pierro and All Too Hard off to the breeding barn before showing his best.
Second favourite for the Doomben 10,000 is Queenslander Buffering who bombed the start in the BTC Cup after starting as favourite which quickly blew his chances.
Buffering finished second in the Doomben 10,000 last year but will have to show serious improvement from his BTC Cup performance to upset Your Song.
Also under double figures are Darley-owned colt Epaulette ($6.50) and BTC Cup second Rain Affair ($8).
Epaulette trialled solidly on Tuesday after a disappointing All Aged Stakes sixth last start. The start before he was second to Black Caviar in the TJ Smith.
But the chances don’t stop with the single-figure horses.
Queensland colt Better Than Ready is rated a $10 chance and is coming off a third-place finish in the BTC Cup.
Chris Waller is still weighing up whether five-year-old mare Arinosa ($11) will contest the sprint but the grey mare is coming off some serious autumn form.
Other horses featuring towards the top of the Doomben 10,000 betting market are Gold Coast Guineas winner Academus ($14) and triple Group 1 winner Sea Siren ($17).
