Flying Snitzel Heads 2013 Scone Inglis Guineas Nominations

Gerald Ryan’s Group 2-winning filly Flying Snitzel heads a 30-horse nominations list for the $500,000 2013 Inglis 3YO Guineas (1400m) which will take place as part of Scone’s exciting two-day carnival on Saturday.

Flying Snitzel has struggled at her past two starts but in March defeated classy filly Norzita to win the Group 2 Kewney Stakes.

Trainer Gerald Ryan is hoping the daughter of Snitzel can rediscover that form but admits she needs conditions to suit.

“What she needs is a firm track. She is just not as good on even a dead track,” Ryan told AAP.

“She’s had a freshen-up and is working really well.”

With a handicap rating of 96, Flying Snitzel is easily the best-credentialled horse in the field.

Also with a good record is Team Hawkes-trained colt Ninth Legion who failed on a heavy 9 in Brisbane last month but was in strong form before that.

The Golden Rose fourth placegetter was second in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes in late March and produced top two finishes in his two preceding races.

Anthony Cummings has one of the more exciting horses entered with Missy Cummings who is unbeaten from three starts.

The daughter of Magnus only debuted in April but has shown plenty of promie and won the Listed Carr Stakes at her most recent outing.

Also in good form is Kris Lees-trained filly Soapy Star who finished runner-up in the Gold Coast Bracelet and hasn’t missed a place in three starts this campaign.

Other notable horses nominated for the Inglis 3YO Guineas include Bart Cummings’ Lunar Rise and Gosford Guineas third placegetter Taxmeifyoucan.
