Thirty fillies have been entered for the Group 3 2013 The Roses (2000m) which will take place as part of Brisbane’s winter carnival at Doomben on Saturday.

The $175,000 event is a traditional Queensland Oaks lead-up and heading the entries is Sydney filly Dear Demi.

The Clarry Conners-trained filly was a Group 1 winner in the Crown Oaks at the spring carnival and has been solid throughout the autumn.

A daughter of Dehere, Dear Demi won the Group 2 Surround Stakes in March and was second to Royal Descent in the Australian Oaks last month.

Joining Dear Demi as one of the bigger names nominated is Express Power who scored a thumping win in the Gold Coast Bracelet last Saturday week.

Second in that race was stablemate Soapy Star who has also been entered for this weekend’s fillies’ feature.

There are plenty of southern raiders included in nominations and one of those is Pat Carey’s daughter of Zabeel Gondokoro.

The lightly-raced youngster has only won once from 11 starts but was third in the Australian Oaks.

Also making the trip north is Anthony Freedman-trained filly Kazanluk who won the Group 2 Fillies’ Classic during the spring.

Heading the local contingent is Robert Heathcote’s in-form filly Magic In Motion.

The daughter of Magic Albert has only missed a place once from nine career starts and has won two from two this campaign.

New Zealand trainer Tony Pike has entered Waterford who will have to bounce back from a fifth-place finish on Saturday.

Patinack trainer John Thompson has nominated four runners with Considerable, Offense, Fiesty Belle and Varansai.
