Your Song Upstages Favourites To Win 2013 BTC Cup – Results

Your Song has produced a major upset to win the Group 1 BTC Cup at Eagle Farm Racecourse today May 11, 2013.

The three-year-old was too good for his opposition in the $400,000 race, passing the post five lengths ahead of his closest competitor.

Rain Affair finished in second position, while Better Than Ready passed the post in third.

Jockey Hugh Bowmanhad no excuses for Rain Affair, who was at home in the rain affected track.

“The three-year-olds have dominated all season,” Bowman said.

“I’ve got no excuses, the winner was too good.

“I thought my horse ran as well as he could.”

Race favourite Buffering was forced to be content with fourth position after he missed the jump and found himself five wide at the home turn.

“He just took a step backwards as they jumped,” said Buffering’s jockey Damien Browne.

“He was just never happy in the going either. It’s very heavy.

“He’ll live to fight another day but obviously disappointing he couldn’t get his Group 1 today.”

While the rest of the field were licking their wounds, trainer Anthony Cummings was over the moon with Your Song’s dominant win in today’s 2013 BTC Cup.

“Pete (Robl) rode him very well… and the horse has done the rest,” Cummings said.

“At the end of the day this is the right weekend.

“He’s just a standout horse.

“I’m very pleased we got the job done today.”

Jockey Peter Robl was thrilled to have secured Your Song’s first group 1 title in the 2013 BTC Cup.

“It’s been a great day,” Robl said.

“He’s very versatile. He does go very well on all conditions.

“He’s a beautiful animal (with a) beautiful attitude.

“He deservedly won a Group 1 race today and he’ll win a few more.”

Your Song will now go on towards the 2013 Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Handicap.

“He’ll be a force to be reckoned with in both of them,” said Robl.
