Quintessential has won the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap at Eagle Farm Racecourse today May 11, 2013.

The Fast ‘N’ Famous mare has now won five of her 20 race starts and has earned more than $570,000 in prize money during her impressive career.

Quintessential’s most recent start resulted in a third placing in the Group 2 Travis Stakes at Te Rapa in New Zealand on April 27, 2013.

Trainer John Sargent was thrilled with Quintessential’s 2013 Chairman’s Handicap win, which marked her first victory in almost 12 months.

“I thought she might have been run down but she keeps kicking,” Sargent said.

“This will set her up for one of the 2,400 races (Doomben or Eagle farm Cup).

“Hopefully we’re on the right track now.

“She’s right back in the group.”

Jockey Damien Browne continued his successful partnership with Quintessential in the 2013 Chairman’s Handicap.

“It’s getting very hard to make ground,” Browne said after the ride.

“I knew it would be a hard slug up the straight.”

The jockey also shed some light on Buffering’s chances in the Group 1 BTC Cup next race on the rain affected track.

“I hope he loves it. Look obviously it’s probably not ideal for him,” Browne admitted.

“He’s a real guts as everyone knows.

“We can only play the cards we’re dealt.”
