The speedy grey won the Group 3 event by 0.2 of a length in front of Lucky Penny, who placed second, and General Peekay, who rounded out the placings in third position.

Linton has now won six of his 23 race starts and has earned more than $1.05 million in prize money during his successful horse racing career.

The Melbourne Cup runner proved that he can do more than just stay, winning over the 2013 RA Lee Stakes’ 1,600 metre distance.

Prior to today’s race win, Linton also claimed victory in the Listed Holdfast Insurance Handicap at Morphettville on April 20, 2013.

Linton is trained at Flemington by trainer John Sadler, and is now unbeaten at Morphettville after winning all three of his starts there.

The six-year-old successfully defended his RA Lee Stakes after winning the very same race during last year’s Adelaide Autumn racing Carnival.

Linton was paying odds of $1.95 to win the 2013 RA Lee Stakes at bookmaker.com.au and was the race favourite.

Second place-getter, Lucky Penny, was also the second favourite for the 2013 RA Lee Stakes and was paying odds of $6.50 at bookmaker.com.au.
