BTC Cup Day 2013 – Best Bets

Brisbane’s Winter Racing Carnival kicks off in style on Saturday at Eagle Farm with an action-packed program featuring eight quality races.

Heading the card is of course the Group 1 2013 BTC Cup (1200m) which includes a showdown between gun sprinters Buffering and Rain Affair.

But the $400,000 sprint isn’t the only big race on the program and there are plenty to follow heading towards bigger events in the carnival.

The Group 3 2013 Rough Habit Plate is a key Queensland Derby lead-up while the 2013 Champagne Classic is a great chance to assess the state’s best two-year-olds.

In the early stages of the carnival there can be differing form lines that can be hard to add up. So if you are struggling to don’t worry as the team is here to help with our BTC Cup Day best bets.

The big one – The BTC Cup

Race 7 – #1 Buffering $2.40

The favourite simply looks the one to beat here. Produced an absolute cracker of a run first-up in the Victory Stakes and if he repeats that he’ll be winning again. Has never been better placed to get the Group 1 monkey off his back than he is here on his home track over 1200m at weight for age.

Class Edge

Race 4 – #4 Less Is More $4.50

The form guide says this David Vandyke-trained gelding is coming off a 14th-place finish in the Doncaster Prelude. And it’s true. But the five-year-old arrives in Brisbane to tackle a benchmark 85 and has just 57.5kg. Last year second-up he was beaten two lengths by Mourayan at weight-for-age level. The distance is a touch short of ideal but if he can be within five lengths of the winner on the turn he has the class to give this a real shake.

Best Roughie

Race 8 – #10 Heza Jetsetter $14

Drawn the carpark but this Robert Heathcote-trained gelding is right in the mix here and looks an each way special. Heathcote is Queensland’s premier trainer for a reason and knows how to get his team peaking for the carnival. Running first-up over a distance he’s won at before and the big straight at his home Eagle Farm track gives him plenty of time to wind up. Look for him to be giving the leaders a real scare late.

When you’ve got your winners picked for the opening day of the Brisbane winter carnival, take advantage of great odds as well as a sensational $500 bonus bet offer at!

The great thing about the bonus is it can be split up to four ways, giving you more bang for your betting buck! Join today quoting the code BONUSBET to get involved!
