Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Michael Moroney’s up-and-coming young filly Pastorale Lass will have her latest start in Wyong this afternoon as she looks to qualify for a shot at the Queensland Oaks 2013 in Brisbane early next month.
The Iffraaj three-year-old remains a maiden after three starts in her opening prep this autumn, her most recent effort being a fifth over the Bendigo mile on April 20.
Today Moroney will step her up to the 2100m hoping to see improvement from her in the $22,000 Moneywise Financial Solutions Maiden Handicap at Wyong.
Drawn ideally in barrier two with Jay Ford riding for the first time Pastorale Lass, Moroney’s inaugural runner out of his newly established Randwick stables, is one of the genuine roughies in the field paying around $41 in an open market.
She is even longer in pre-field Queensland Oaks betting at a triple figure quote of $101, Clarry Conners’ Crown Oaks winner Dear Demi early favourite at $4.50.
However Moroney’s racing manager Anthony Feroce believes she can develop into a genuine staying filly and surprise heading towards the Oaks.
“She is a lovely filly and a promising type,” Feroce said.
“If she races well and there is no reason to think she won’t she will go to Queensland with the Oaks as her mission.”
