13 two-year-olds in 2013 Champagne Classic Field

The final field and barrier draw has been released for the $175,000 Group 2 2013 Champagne Classic (1200m) which stands as a key support race to the BTC Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

A quality field of 13 juveniles will line up to contest the sprint including Patinack’s spruik colt Hooked.

The son of Casino Prince has blown his rivals away in two starts to date but will have to overcome a tricky barrier 11 draw to make it three from three this weekend.

Drawing the inside barrier was Tony Gollan’s talented filly Global Dream who is resuming for her first start since running fourth in the Magic Millions Classic.

It is a lightly-raced field but there is plenty of form gallopers in the race including Sydney filly Bound For Earth who is having just the second start of her career after winning at Canterbury last month.

Also making the trip to Brisbane is Chris Waller’s colt Vilanova who is yet to make his Australian debut. The former Kiwi has raced four times for one win and one placing.

There are plenty of strong local hopes in the field including Rob Heathcote-trained filly She’s A Danica and Marcus Wilson’s debut winner Goth Girl.

Successful Brisbane trainer Kelso Wood had the star winter two-year-old with Sizzling last year and has the unraced Into The Red lining up this weekend.

One of the more experienced runners in the field is Kelly Schweida-trained colt Octane Flyer who is yet to miss a place from five starts and was last seen winning at Eagle Farm on April 20.

Markets will be available shortly on all Saturday’s bumper Eagle Farm action and the place to back a winner is bookmaker.com.au.

Along with an easy-to-use website and mobile site, the Australian-owned bookie has huge odds and a sensational $500 bonus bet offer for new customers!
