Jason Warren’s consistent sprinter Bel Sprinter is off to Singapore for a shot at the coveted KrisFlyer International Sprint 2013 later this month following two nice runs in Sydney this campaign.
The seven-time winning five-year-old, who shares the sire Bel Esprit with the recently retired superstar Black Caviar, broke through at elite level first up this autumn putting a big 3.5 lengths on Snitzerland in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill
They backed up two weeks later going up four kilos in the weights to run a competitive third behind Black Caviar in what turned out to be her swansong race in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 13.
International glory is now calling for the smart gelding who is still officially among the nominations for this Saturday’s $500,000 Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) in Adelaide.
Their acceptance in the race however is unlikely with the Mornington-based Warren confirming it was all systems go for Bel Sprinter heading towards the KrisFlyer International Sprint at Kranji Racecourse on May 19
“The horse will fly to Singapore next Sunday and races the following Sunday night,” Warren said.
