Linton Nominated to Defend Title in 2013 RA Lee Stakes

John Sadler’s Victorian stayer Linton has been nominated to defend their title in Saturday’s RA Lee Stakes 2013 on The Goodwood Day following a nice win in Adelaide last start.

There were 20 nominees for this year’s $150,000 Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m), Linton the highest-rated of the early entries.

The Galielo six-year-old took out the race 12 months ago in their first run in seven months before having to spend another four months on the sidelines after the win.

After a below par spring the grey has had two runs this time in when fifth to Black Caviar in the William Reid Stakes before dropping right back in class at Morphettville Parks on April 20 to carry a hefty 62kg to victory over Road Warrior (54.5kg) in a Listed 1400m event.

Runner-up Road Warrior is also nominated to back up in the RA Lee Stakes as is third placed Isopach.

Locally-trained Street Cry seven-year-old Road Warrior also ran a close second in their first-up run behind Just Discreet in the Listed Matrice Stakes (1300m) and should be hitting their peak going up to the mile.

John Thompson’s Magic Albert four-year-old Isopach meanwhile is after just their third win at career start number 27, the gelding not having won a race since October of 2011.

Other highly-rated hopes include the Tony Vasil-trained Mossman five-year-old Under The Eiffel, former Group 1 winning veteran Wall Street and Blackie who is now with their fourth trainer in Jarrod McLean.

As for the local hopes some of the more notable are the David Jolly-trained Danish Spy coming off a good second to Star Of Giselle in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes at the track and distance on April 27, last year’s Adelaide Cup winner Rialya and Richard Jolly’s Mr Lowndes.

Also in the mix are the Peter Moody-trained Cosmic Causeway coming off back-to-back Caulfield wins and Mick Price’s Adelaide Guineas winner General Peekay after their third win on the trot in South Australia.
