2013 Silk Stocking Betting Tips – Gold Coast Racing

It’s one of the biggest days of the year at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday and a key race on the Prime Minister’s Cup Day card is the 2013 Silk Stocking (1200m).

A full 16-horse field will contest the fillies and mares’ race and as far as the betting is concerned it is an open affair.

The shortest-priced runner is John O’Shea-trained mare Bound To Blush at $5 who is resuming after a consistent summer campaign.

Just behind the favourite is Peter Moody’s front-runner Karuta Queen ($6) and Darley’s Detours ($6).

Others under double figures include Emotional Circus ($6.50) and Brisbane mare Emmalene ($8).

Can’t work out which way to go in this open field of mares? Then keep reading for some help from the bookmaker.com.au tipsters who have been hard at work studying the form.

The Winner

#2 Karuta Queen $6

Quite keen on Karuta Queen to bounce back to early campaign form after running 10th in the Sapphire Stakes at Randwick last start. Trainer Peter Moody has stated he wants her ridden in her natural style out in front and she may just get too far clear for the others to catch. Is one from one at the Gold Coast, drawn ideally in barrier four and if you put a line through her last run when Tommy Berry tried to restrain her, she has two minor placings including a second to Black Caviar this preparation.

Second

#7 Petty Cury $13

There’s been plenty of money for this Kiwi after she opened at well over $20 in early markets. She’s heading into somewhat unknown territory given it is her Australian debut but she’s certainly got form on her side. Has won her last four starts including three over the Silk Stocking distance of 1200m and was a Group 3 winner at her most recent outing. Has proven she knows what she is doing and provided she jumps well from the inside she can feature again here.

Third

#11 Emmalene $8

A quality mare from the stable of Brisbane trainer Liam Birchley. Won first-up before a luckless run in Sydney and returned with a runner-up finish in the Listed Juanmo Stakes last start. Aided by top Queensland jockey Chris Munce who will help find a spot from a tricky barrier 12 position.

Think Karuta Queen will get the bacon? Fancy another runner? Whoever you like, ensure you are getting great odds on the Silk Stocking by betting at bookmaker.com.au.
