Keith’s Legacy Set for 2013 Hawkesbury Rowley Mile

David Vandyke’s in-form galloper Keith’s Legacy has opened top of the odds to win their third Sydney race on the trot this weekend when they take on a good field in the Hawkesbury Rowley Mile 2013.

The former New Zealand-trained Johar six-year-old makes their black type debut this Saturday and will jump favourite in the $150,000 Listed XXXX Gold Hawkesbury Rowley Mile (1600m).

Keith’s Legacy earned the step up to Listed company after two good wins at Randwick last month, the first by two lengths over 1400m and then again in a Benchmark 95 over the same distance when handling the Heavy (10) track on the 20th the best of the bunch.

Drawn wide in barrier 11 of 12 for the Hawkesbury Rowley Mile hasn’t stopped the bookies spruiking them as the one to beat at a quote of $4, a deserved price according to their confident trainer.

“It’s the right time to be running him in a stakes race,” Vandyke said.

“And the way he’s racing they would want to be going pretty good to beat him.

“He was very dominant both times at Randwick and he’ll come in well on the limit (54kg) on Saturday.”

After the Rowley Vandyke is aiming Keith’s Legacy at the $110,000 Listed Scone Cup (1600m) on May 17

There are then four other runners joining Keith’s Legacy under $10 in the markets with last start Pink Ribbon Cup winner Speediness ($6.50) in the outside gate, the Tony McEvoy-trained Mouro ($7) with the inside running, Gosford Cup winner Moriarty ($7.50) who could go to the Wagga Cup on Friday instead and Group 1 performer Monton ($9) out to atone for their 16th in the Doncaster Mile.
