Tasmanian gelding Banca Mo is a clear favourite for Thursday’s Listed 2013 Warrnambool Cup (2350m).
The David and Scott Brunton-trained galloper is chasing a third straight victory this weekend and is currently rated a $3.10 chance at bookmaker.com.au.
A potential Brisbane Cup start awaits if the son of Tough Speed can back up the form he showed when winning the Pakenham Cup and and Open Handicap at Flemington.
Scott Brunton said both he and his co-trainer father are confident their charge is in good shape to continue his run in the Warrnambool feature.
“I’ve got a really big opinion of him and so does my father (co-trainer David Brunton) so hopefully the wheels can stay on until Thursday and he should be really hard to beat,” Brunton told Racing Victoria.
“He gives you every indication that he’ll have no issues with the distance and he looks like he’ll progress into a really nice stayer.”
Second in betting at $6 is Shiny Buttons who is coming off a third-place finishing over 2000m at Flemington.
Lucky Angel ($7.50) joins him as the only other runner under double figures and the five-year-old mare has been consistent throughout a lengthy campaign.
The Tony Vasil-trained stayer was second in the Launceston Cup and was last seen running fourth at Flemington.
Market mover is Finiguerra ($10) who won first-up at Moonee Valley before running third at Caulfield.
The Daryl Dodson-trained gelding is returning for a secondattempt at the Warrnambool Cup after finishing 12th last year.
At $13 is King Diamond who won the Ballarat Cup in November and backed that up to finish second in the Werribee Cup.
Others featuring in the Warrnambool Cup market are Streaky Fella ($15), Montgomery ($17) and last year’s winner Domesky ($17).
