Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2013 The Goodwood in Adelaide next month is still a possibility for Gerald Ryan’s classy Sydney filly Snitzerland despite her shock loss in last Saturday’s Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville Racecourse.
Ryan has been unable to explain the below par run by his multiple Group 1 performing Snitzel three-year-old, Snitzerland finishing three lengths away seventh behind the Darren Weir-trained Platelet, who retained the flawless record of Victorian mares in the race since it gained Group 1 status, in the Robert Sangster as the beaten odds-on favourite over the weekend.
While still searching for answers to her failed effort Ryan is awaiting the results from a series of blood tests.
He said however that so long as nothing physically turns up wrong with the filly he will consider staying on during the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival for the $500,000 Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) on May 11.
“It was the worst run of her career,” Ryan said.
“She was so bright and well before the race and just as good after. She looked even better than she did in Sydney (when first-up winner of the Group 2 Challenge Stakes and second to Bel Sprinter in the Group 1 The Galaxy).
“We’re still waiting on the results of blood tests. If they reveal something wrong she will go to the paddock.
“If there’s nothing there, then the Goodwood is still an option.”
