Star Of Giselle led all the way to claim the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes by a neck in front of Danish Spy, who finished in second, and Lake Sententia, who placed third.

Today’s win marked the ninth from 24 career runs for the five-year-old, who has now accumulated more than $620,000 in prize money.

Star Of Giselle was paying odds of $5 to win the 2013 Queen Of The South Stakes at, while third place-getter Lake Sententia was the $3.20 favourite.

Co-trainer Mathew Ellerton was at the track to see Star Of Giselle salute in the 2013 Queen Of The South Stakes.

“It was a super win and she had a pretty soft one in front,” Ellerton said.

“I’m just pleased that she got away with it.”

The trainer revealed that the 2013 Queen Of The South Stakes may well have been Star Of Giselle’s final career run.

“We’ll let the dust settle but she may well be retired now,” he said.

Star Of Giselle was ridden by jockey Brad Rawiller in the 2013 Queen Of The South Stakes, who had never before had a ride aboard the Reset mare.
