Doomben Results – Gunsynd Classic 2013 Winner Is Proverb

Proverb has claimed the 2013 Gunsynd Classic at Doomben Racecourse, in what was the first Group race of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

The three-year-old was too good for the remainder of the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic field, claiming the race in dominant style in front of Lucky Lucky Lucky, who soared home for second, and Hi Son, who rounded out the placings in third.

Proverb has now won three of his 14 race starts and has earned more than $275,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Commands gelding had failed to finish better than fifth in his four Sydney race starts this autumn, however, was still the $2.50 favourite to win the 2013 Gunsynd Mile at bookmaker.com.au.

Proverb’s most recent Sydney result was a sixth placing in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes at Royal Randwick behind Toydini on April 13, 2013.

Trained by Peter Snowden, Proverb was ridden by jockey Josh Parr in today’s 2013 Gunsynd Classic.

He will now continue to contend the top three-year-old winter features throughout the carnival.
