2013 All Aged Stakes – Betting Update

The race that has punters buzzing today is the Group 1 2013 All Aged Stakes (1400m) which is due to jump as race 7 at 4:15pm (AEST) at Randwick.

Heading the market at $2.70 is pin-up mare More Joyous but the six-year-old has drifted to $2.70 after being as short as $2.40 earlier in the week.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained star was one of the standouts of last year’s autumn carnival but is yet to get a win under her belt this year.

More Joyous finished second to Pierro in the Canterbury Stakes first-up before being blocked for a run and finishing fifth in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Just behind More Joyous in the market and now close to favourite is three-year-old colt All Too Hard ($2.90) who is having his final start in Australia.

The half-brother to Black Caviar hasn’t raced since February when he scored consecutive weight-for-age Group 1 wins in Melbourne.

There’s been money for Epaulette ($4.20) who is considered the biggest danger of knocking off the top two after an outstanding second behind Black Caviar in the TJ Smith.

He’s the only other runner in single figures and was a Group 1 winner at the distance in last year’s Golden Rose.

Steady at $14 is Rain Affair who is expected to lead and set the tempo. The Joe Pride-trained gelding is a consistent galloper but is yet to win at Group 1 level from five starts in the top grade.

This preparation he has finished fourth in both the Canterbury Stakes and the TJ Smith.

Others in the All Aged Stakes include veteran Group 1 winner Rangirangdoo ($19), Melbourne Cup runner-up Fiorente ($26) and outside hopes Smokin’ Joey ($51) and Rolling Pin ($101).
