Rodd Confident 2013 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Results a Dundeel

After an impressive track gallop on Tuesday morning aboard emphatic Australian Derby champion It’s A Dundeel, replacement jockey Michael Rodd is more confident than ever Murray Baker’s Kiwi raider can add a fifth Group 1 trophy to their name in this Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2013.

The talented High Chapparal colt already boasts four elite level wins down under three of which were achieved consecutively this autumn with It’s A Dundeel completing the Sydney Autumn 3YO Triple Crown in impressive fashion.

Last seen putting six lengths on runner-up Philippi to complete the Triple Crown in the Group 1 Australian Derby (24500m) at Royal Randwick on April 13, It’s A Dundeel returns to the track this weekend where they will look to continue their winning streak in the $500,000 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m).

There are currently 11 nominations for this year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes, It’s A Dundeel the raging favourite.

Among the more notable entries to take on the odds-on fancy are the likes of Chris Waller’s promising import Reliable Man, Group 1 winning Kiwi mare Silent Achiever coming off a good second to Fiveandahalfstar in The BMW and the Peter Moody-trained Manighar last seen running a much improved fourth in the George Ryder.

But in Rodd’s eyes it’s all about It’s A Dundeel who impressed their Queen Elizabeth Stakes hoop, Rodd replacing the suspended James McDonald in a one-off ride on the champion, greatly in their 1400m gallop at Warwick Farm this morning.

“He’s a good mover, very well balanced and actually feels like a little sprinter when he works,” Rodd said.
