The super-consistent Group 1 performing Super Jet seven-year-old has been one of the big time earners for Walter over her 43-start career which has produced 10 wins and over $840,000 in prize money.

Twelve months ago Skyerush enjoyed a win over Fibrillation in the $175,000 Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1600m) before traveling to Brisbane at the end of her prep where she enjoyed a close second to Pear Tart in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

This time in Skyerush enjoyed a first-up Group 3 victory at Warwick Farm before bombing out when 12th in the Ajax Stakes on March 30.

She bounced back from that shock effort last start however when carrying 58kg to a tight win in the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1600m).

Walter chose to bypass the $2 million Doncaster Mile last weekend with Skyerush however, not tempted by her ballot free ride into the classic and instead sticking with her original target – the Emancipation.

Skyerush could also be joined in the Emancipation Stakes field this weekend by stablemate Cannery Row, the grey Canny Lad five-year-old also nominated for the fillies’ and mares’ clash which would be her maiden black type assignment.

A number of trainers have multiple entries in the race this year including Chris Waller with Group 1 winning Kiwi expat Say No More and Choisir four-year-old Scorpio Queen; and Peter Snowden represented by the consistent Raspberries coming off a fourth in the Doncaster Prelude and Octagonal six-year-old Shannara.

Other notable hopefuls in the mix then include the Ken Wood-trained New Zealander Xanadu coming off a Group 1 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes victory over the mile back home at the start of the month and Fastnet Rock three-year-old Driefontein from the Gai Waterhouse stables.

See below for the current Emancipation Stakes nominations which have been extended until 11:00am (AEST) on Wednesday.
