It’s A Dundeel appears set to start a clear favourite in the Group 1 2013 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on Saturday.

There was speculation Pierro would back up to take on the Kiwi but with Sydney’s number one colt retired, It’s A Dundeel is the one to beat.

The Murray Baker-trained colt heads a 13-horse nominations list for the $500,000 race where he will chase a fourth consecutive Group 1 win.

It’s A Dundeel has been one of the stars of the autumn, winning the three-year-old triple crown which included a six-length walloping of his Australian Derby rivals.

The High Chaparral colt is the only three-year-old nominated but there is no shortage of quality.

Entered to take on the boom colt are a number of classy gallopers including Foreteller and Jet Away.

Foreteller won over the 2000m distance in the Ranvet Stakes last month and finished just 1 1/2 lengths off Fiveandahalfstar when fifth in the BMW (2400m).

Jet Away, a recent acquisition to David Hayes’ stable, steps up in grade but is unbeaten in two starts in Australia.

Hayes has Caulfield Cup aspirations for the import and he was impressive winning both the Golden Mile and Easter Cup.

There is a strong New Zealand presence in the entries and joining It’s A Dundeel from across the Tasman are Veyron and quality mares Silent Achiever and Zurella.

Last year’s Queen Elizabeth runner-up Manighar had a slow start to the autumn but showed promise last start when finishing strongly for fourth in the George Ryder Stakes.

Others nominated for the Queen Elizabeth include Group 1-winning mare Secret Admirer, Chris Waller’s import Reliable Man and Group 1 winners Happy Trails and Glass Harmonium.
