All of the early nominations for the Sydney Cup Day races at Royal Randwick this Saturday have now been released including those for the three-year-olds’ Frank Packer Plate 2013.

While the premier race for the age group was the Australian Derby on April 13, the $125,000 Group 3 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) is a nice chance for horses to secure a bit of black type before heading out after the autumn.

One horse that did run in the Group 1, 2400m Derby which has also been nominated for the Frank Packer this weekend is the John O’Shea-trained Kingdoms who ran third behind It’s A Dundeel in the $1.5 million classic.

The nicely-bred High Chaparral colt, previously prepared by Bart Cummings, earned their shot at the ATC Derby after finishing fourth in the Rosehill Guineas in their first Group assignment and is sure to relish a field absent of the Sydney Autumn 3YO Triple Crown champion It’s A Dundeel.

O’Shea has also nominated for his Savabeel gelding Sir Denzel who comes off a third to Philippi in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) on a slow track at Rosehill back on April 6.

The race that the most Frank Packer Plate hopefuls come via meanwhile is the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) which also ran at Royal Randwick on Derby Day.

Winner Toydini is the most notable backing up, Guy Walter’s talented son of Bernardini after their third on the trot having also won the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) by an easy 2.5 lengths before their four length romp in the Carbine.

Carbine Club Stakes runner-up Hawkspur, third placed Bradman and fourth placegetter Honorious are also all nominated for this weekend.

Other notable nominees then include the Peter Snowden-trained Shamardal filly Cameo who won the Group 3 Keith Nolan Classic over the mile at Kembla Grange before her disappointing 13th when outclassed by Norzita in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) last start, and Tullcoh Stakes fourth placed Laser Flash.

Check out the current Frank Packer Plate nominations in the table below which have been extended until 11:00am (AEST) tomorrow.
