Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Joe Pride’s Australian Oaks-bound filly Unimpeachable will start favourite in the markets for her final Oaks lead-up in this Saturday’s Adrian Knox Stakes 2013 at Royal Randwick.
One of the key support races on a cracker Australian Derby Day line-up, the $125,000 Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) has this year drawn a final field of 15 three-year-old fillies, the favourite of which is the promising Unimpeachable.
Drawn in barrier four with Josh Parr to ride Unimpeachable may not have won since January but she has opened top of the Adrian Knox Stakes odds for this weekend paying $4.
Last seen coming within a short half-head when second in an 1800m fillies-only event at the track on April 1, Unimpeachable drops back form 59kg that run to 56kg for the Adrian Knox.
She is also one of a number of Adrian Knox hopefuls heading towards the $550,000 Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) back at the track Saturday week currently rated a $21 chance for the big one.
Chris Waller’s daughter of Redoute’s Choice Royal Descent then may have been allocated the hefty 59kg top-weight but is still the second pick in the Adrian Knox Stakes betting markets paying $5.50.
Set to be ridden by Nash Rawiller from barrier one she was only just beaten in the Group 3 Keith Nolan Classic (1600m) at Kembla Grange last time out, a race Unimpeachable ran fourth in, but goes up five kilos in the weights and 400m in distance making her a risky bet.
The two other single-figure fancies for the Adrian Knox 2013 are then Queenstown ($7) and early market mover Sail ($7.50).
Gai Waterhouse’s consistent Stratum filly Queenstown enjoyed a good win last start when putting three lengths on her closest rival in a Benchmark 70 against her own kind over 1400m at Warwick Farm, and she also has form up to 1900m when third to Laser Flash over the distance last August.
The Peter Snowden-trained daughter of Canny Lad Sail meanwhile enjoyed back-to-back wins earlier this season before looking outclassed when seventh in the Keith Nolen, an effort she is tipped to improve on getting up in distance.
At longer odds but with claims are then the likes of Brisbane visitor Hold Me Tight ($11), Guy Walter’s last start winner at the track over 1800m Divertire ($11), the Waller-trained Wind Bender ($12) and Snitzel filly Express Power ($13) coming off a win at Canterbury – many of which have double digit draws to overcome.
