Weetwood Handicap 2013 – Final Field Released

A full 14-horse field plus five emergencies have been named in the final field for the Listed $150,000 2013 Weetwood Handicap (1200m) which will take place in Toowoomba on Saturday.

The Weetwood is a well-regarded sprint in Queensland and included in the field is 2012 Golden Slipper fourth placegetter Doubtfilly.

The Stuart Kendrick-trained three-year-old ran the race of her life to finish behind Pierro, Snitzerland and Samaready in last year’s Slipper but has been unable to taste victory since February last year.

The daughter of Not A Single Doubt has had one lead-up run heading into the Weetwood, finishing fourth at Doomben last month.

Travelling north for Queanbeyan trainer Matthew Dale is Unanimously who has proven himself competitive against classy sprinters in Sydney and Melbourne.

Another Victorian in the field is Utah Saints who was last seen running eighth in the Listed Abell Stakes at Moonee Valley last month.

Former Toowoomba trainer Tony Gollan, now based in Brisbane, has two runners with Too Many Reds and Theft.

Too Many Reds was second at Listed level at Randwick in the spring but struggled first-up last month to finish 11th at Eagle Farm.

Theft, a winner of seven of 23 starts, will also need to bounce back from a disappointing last-start 14th.

Heading into the race in good form is G’Day Old Mate who is coming off back-to-back thirds at Eagle Farm last month.

Stepping out for local trainer Michael Nolan is Miss Imagica who is returning from a spell after winning at her last start at Toowoomba in January.

Others in the Weetwood Handicap field include last-start runner-up Silver Scholar  Tony Sears-trained pair The Ringmaster and Trail Boss.
