Strong 2013 Auraria Stakes Field Named

While most of the focus this Saturday will be on Randwick with Black Caviar, Morphetville also hosts a strong card and one of the highlights is the Group 3 2013 Auraria Stakes (1800m).

Otherwise known as the 2013 Schweppervescence Stakes, the $115,000 event is restricted to three-year-old fillies and has attracted a full field of 16 horses plus four emergencies.

Included in the field is Anthony Freedman-trained filly Kazanluk who won the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic at the Spring Carnival.

The good form has transferred into the autumn and she heads into race on the back of a runner-up finish to You’re So Good in the Listed Alexendra Stakes.

Another runner who had success at the Spring Carnival was Maybe Discreet who won the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes on the back of a Morphetville Guineas win.

But the Phillip Stokes-trained galloper is yet to rediscover that form, finishing 11th and fifth in two starts this autumn.

Coming off a last-start win is David Hayes’ Global Balance who took out the Listed Tasmanian Oaks and has won two of five starts.

The Redoute’s Choice filly may be in good form but she will have to be at the top of her game after drawing barrier 19.

She is one of three last-start winners in the field, joined by Stephen Theodore’s Seymour winner French Butterfuly and Desdane who won at Gawler for Richard Jolly.

Other horses included in the field for the three-year-old fillies’ feature are Jason Warren’s Proper madam, the Patinack-owned Transonic and Peter Moody’s filly Grand Daughter.
