Dance With Her Can Earn 2013 Sydney Cup Start

A big performance in Saturday’s Group 2 2013 Chairman’s Quality (2600m) will go a long way to confirming a 2013 Sydney Cup start for Victorian mare Dance With Her.

The consistent six-year-old has produced strong performances to win the Yarra Valley Cup and finish third in the Manion Cup at her last two starts but trainer David Brideoake admits he isn’t “totally sold” on heading to the Sydney Cup.

The back-up option is the $200,000 Warrnambool Cup on May 2 where she would be defending her title.

“I’m not totally sold on the idea, but at this stage if everything goes according to plan she’ll head to the Sydney Cup,” Brideoake told Racing Network.

“She’s had a good week and she’s in very good order.”

A daughter of well-regarded sire Al Maher, Dance With Her has won 12 of 47 starts but finished in the placings on another 16 occasions.

She showed her ability to take on high calibre horses during the Brisbane winter when finishing second to Lights Of Heaven in the Brisbane Cup.

Dance With Her has come up with barrier 10 for this weekend’s $175,000 hit-out where she will take on Sydney Cup favourite Julienas.

Julienas has been in tremendous form and will chase a third straight win this weekend after taking out the Sky High Stakes and the Manion Cup.

Also running in the Sydney Cup is Manion Cup runner-up Permit.

Permit is the defending Chairman’s Quality winner and was favourite in last year’s Sydney Cup before going amiss during the race.

Other Chairman’s Quality runners include Peter Moody-trained pair Vatuvei and Thy and Randwick City Stakes winner Tremec.
