2013 Carbine Club Stakes – Final Field and Barrier Draw

The final field and barrier draw has been released for the Group 3 2013 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) which will take place as part of a bumper Australian Derby Day program at Randwick on Saturday.

Ten horses will contest the $125,000 three-year-old event including Guy Walter’s talented galloper Toydini.

The son of Bernadini showed he has benefited from a gelding operation last month when scoring a dominant 2 1/2 length win in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes.

Second in the Phar Lap Stakes was Ninth Legion who was also second at his previous start in the Bendigo Guineas.

The Fastnet Rock colt is yet to finish worse than fourth in four starts since joining Team Hawkes from Anthony Cummings.

Consistent colt Tatra will step out for Darley after scoring consecutive third-place finishes in the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas.

The Peter Snowden-trained galloper proved himself well and truly up to this level in the spring when taking out the Group 2 Sandown Guineas.

He is one of two Snowden-trained runners in the field, joined by Commands gelding Proverb.

In-form trainer Gerald Ryan has accepted with filly Flying Snitzel who won the Group 2 Kewney Stakes last month but will have to bounce back from an eighth-place finish in the Coolmore Classic.

Showing talent in the spring with a Group 3 win was Bart Cummings-trained gelding Lunar Rise but he is yet to recapture that form this time in.

Bendigo Guineas winner Bradman makes a trip to Sydney for the hit-out but will have to bounce back from a last-start 10th at Caulfield.

Others in the field include Chris Waller’s gelding Hawkspur, David Payne-trained galloper Honorius and Anthony Cummings’ Diamond Costa.
