18 Included in 2013 Doncaster Prelude Field

With ballot exemption into Saturday week’s $1.5 million 2013 Doncaster Mile up for grabs, it comes as little surprise to see a big 18-horse field for Saturday’s Group 3 2013 Doncast Mile Prelude (1600m) at Randwick

Heading the weights at 59kg is Peter Moody-trained import Voila Ici. The grey entire was last at his first start this campaign in the Ajax Stakes but showed potential in the spring when second to Ocean Park in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes.

As expected, Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller has a strong presence in the race, having accepted with five runners.

Included in his quintet is Moriarty who returns from a brief break after winning back-to-back Listed races in January including the Gosford Cup.

Also stepping out for Waller is recent British import Beaten Up who was ninth in the Ajax Stakes but was a Group 3 winner in the UK.

Rounding out Waller’s Doncaster Prelude team are Stout Hearted, Class Is Class and Illo who was formerly trained by Bart Cummings.

Heading into the race in terrific form is Bjorn Baker’s four-year-old Havana Rey who produced a dominant performance to win the Ajax Stakes.

Jacquinot Bay was set on a Doncaster path at the beginning of his campaign but after winning first-up has not placed in his two most recent starts.

Facing a step up in class but in terrific form is the Albury-based Niblick who is coming off back-to-back wins in the Listed National Sprint at Canberra and the Listed Albury Gold Cup.

Other horses in the Docnaster Prelude field include the Darley-owned Raspberries, David Vandyke’s import Less Is More and Michael Moroney-trained gelding Shenzhou Steeds.
