Golden Slipper Day 2013 – Rosehill Scratchings

Golden Slipper Day 2013 has arrived and the rain-affected track has led to mass scratchings at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse today.

Despite the bogged track, no Golden Slipper runners have withdrawn from the field, meaning emergencies Havana and Il Cavallo have been scratched.

The late entry fee of $150,000 did not pay off for Il Cavallo, who broke the 900 metre track record at Sandown on debut last start.

Il Cavallo won the $35,000 Swettenham Stud Handicap by four lengths, however, it was not enough to score him a start in the 2013 Golden Slipper field.

The Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes is the only other Group 1 of the day to have received a scratching, with Royal Descent being withdrawn from the field.
