Short-priced 2013 Golden Slipper favourite Overreach is drifting in the betting market for the world’s richest two-year-old race which will be held on Saturday at Rosehill.
After getting as short as $2.10 as money flowed in following her barrier one draw, the Gai Waterhouse-trained youngster is back out to $2.20.
The drift may have something to do with the rain that has fallen in Sydney as the Exceed And Excel filly is yet to be tested on worse than a dead 5 track.
Overnight market mover Sidestep remains the second favourite at $9 after shortening from $12.
With more showers predicted leading in to the weekend, Silver Slipper winner Sweet Idea has been backed in from $15 to $12.
A stablemate of Overreach, Sweet Idea took out the Silver Slipper in tough style on a heavy 9 track.
Very few of the Slipper contenders have raced in the wet.
Also coming out of the Silver Slipper are third placegetter Charlie Boy ($34) and fourth I’m All The Talk ($21).
I’m All The Talk confirmed his quality when getting back on top of the ground in the Skyline Stakes and blowing his rivals away by 3 1/2 lengths.
Todman Stakes winner Criterion remains steady at $13 alongside Victorian filly Villa Verde.
Gai Waterhouse always boasts plenty of Slipper chances and her third runner, and only male, Whittington is at $18.
The Tale of The Cat colt has won two of three starts and is coming off a victory in the Lonhro Plate.
Bjorn Baker says it is a dream to have a Golden Slipper runner but his hope Windjammer is a long-shot runner at $51.
“He’s two runs this time in have been good without a lot of luck and he’s a rough chance,” Baker said.
