Victorian filly Scarletini heads the field for the Group 3 2013 WA Oaks (2400m) which will take place at Perth’s Ascot Racecourse on Saturday.
The John Sadler-trained galloper has drawn barrier one for the staying test and will be ridden by champion jockey Glen Boss.
From six career starts she has won three times and is yet to miss out on a top three finish.
The daughter of Bernadini has improved every time she has stepped up in distance and won by two lengths over 2400m at Sandown on March 20.
Scarletini arrived safely in Perth earlier this week and reportedly came through a sharp piece of trackwork on Tuesday terrifically.
Taking on the Victorian is in-form local Moreish who will chase a third consecutive victory this weekend.
The Sharon Miller-trained filly won the Listed 1000 Guineas on March 9 before backing up two weeks later to claim the Natasha Stakes.
Also well regarded is the Adam Durrant-trained Summah’s Touch who has won three of 13 starts and placed on five other occasions.
Out to exact revenge on Moreish will be Angel Rose who finished second in the Natasha Stakes. Still a maiden after five starts, the Testa Rossa filly has only finished outside the minor placings once.
Third in the Natasha Stakes was Fancy Feet who clearly appreciated the extra distance after struggling in the 1000 Guineas.
Others contesting the WA Oaks include Grant Williams’ filly Fleeting Image and Dan Morton’s 1000 Guineas fourth placegetter Keg Mouse who will be ridden by top Perth jockey Jarrod Noske.
