Due to run as Rosehill Race 6 at 3:15pm (AEST) this year’s $400,000 Group 1 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) is shaping up as a crack showdown with a plethora of Group 1 winners in the mix including Gai Waterhouse’s glamour six-year-old More Joyous.

Having won the Queen Of The Turf the past two years, More Joyous is back in 2013 and has had her confidence boosted with an ideal barrier one draw – Nash Rawiller to ride.

More Joyous resumed for the autumn on March 23 with a brave second to her star stablemate Pierro in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) and back against her own sex over an extra 200m should prove hard to beat.

Still there’s plenty of talent among her rivals including two mares from the stables of Guy Walter with Appearance (barrier 6) and Streama (barrier nine).

Commands four-year-old Appearance, winner of the Myer Classic in Melbourne during the spring, became a dual Group 1 champion last start in a narrow victory in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic over the same track and distance as the Queen Of The Turf.

Streama meanwhile is out to improve on her seventh in the Coolmore when beaten three lengths by the winner and get back to her good form as a three-year-old last Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival where she won the Australian Oaks over the mile and a half.

Other Group 1 winners in the mix on Saturday include the Grahame Begg-trained Secret Admirer who is second-up for the season following a fifth in the Canterbury, Peter Moody’s reigning Stradbroke Handicap champ Mid Summer Music and Pear Tart drawn ideally in barrier two with Hall of Fame hoop Jim Cassidy in the saddle.

One of the other big dangers meanwhile has suffered an awkward Queen Of The Turf Stakes barrier with the Chris Waller-trained Red Tracer in barrier 10.

The progressive Dane Shadow five-year-old has had three good runs this time in including a Group 3 win in the wet at this track and her second in the Coolmore Classic last start when defeated a mere short half-head.
