Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Official The Galaxy
2013 nominations for this Saturday have been released by Racing NSW
with a bumper 25 early entries taken for
the newly-scheduled Sydney Autumn Racing
Now one of two Group 1 classics to run at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday along with
the Rosehill Guineas for three-year-olds, this year’s $350,000 Group 1 The
Galaxy (1100m) is shaping up as a cracker.
The headline nominee and likely top-weight is John McNair’s champion triple Group 1
winner Hay List.
The Statue Of Liberty seven-year-old spent the bulk of the
past year in the paddock recovering from various injury and fitness issues but
resumed on March 16 when fourth to Snitzerland in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes
(1000m) at Warwick Farm.
Heading towards the TJ
Smith Stakes on April 13 and then possibly the All Aged Stakes on Sydney Cup Day, Hay List pulled up well after
their first-up run but may still bypass The Galaxy this weekend depending on
what weight they are handicapped.
Challenge Stakes winner Snitzerland
meanwhile has been confirmed as a definite The Galaxy runner and is one of just
three last start winners nominated for the race along with the lightly-raced Isabella Snowflake coming off a black
type win at Flemington, and the Joe
Pride-trained Maurice McCarten Stakes winner at this track and distance
from last Saturday See The World.
Pride has also nominated for Tiger Tees who was fifth in the Challenge Stakes last time out and Title who ran fourth in this race 12
Among the other more notable nominations are then 2011 The
Galaxy winner in the wet Atomic Force,
Decision Time who was second in the
Challenge Stakes this year, multiple Group 1 winner Ortensia who has failed at her two returning runs this time in, and
resuming Fastnet Rock mare Sea Siren hasn’t raced since her ninth in Hong Kong
Sprint back in December and will reunite with veteran hoop Jim Cassidy on Saturday who vies for his 98th Group 1
“She had no luck in Hong Kong where she was absolutely
poleaxed, and it will be nice to turn things around for the owners and trainer
John O’Shea. She’s going great,” Cassidy, 50, said.
There are also tow top Queensland gallopers in the mix this
year with the Tony Gollan-trained defending champ Temple Of Boom the Desleigh
Forster-trained Adebisi who
races for the first time in five weeks here.
