Golden Slipper Contenders Top Pago Pago Stakes 2013 Nominations

The latest lead-up races for two-year-olds heading towards
the coveted $3.5 million Group 1 Golden
Slipper
(1200m) on April 6 will take place at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday one of which is the 2013 Pago Pago Stakes for the colts and
geldings.

This year there were 17 nominations for the $175,000 Group 2
Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) taken, a
number of which are 2013 Golden Slipper
bound this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

The shortest-priced of the Pago Pago Stakes nominees in the
latest Golden Slipper odds
is All The Talk who is currently the
$16 fifth favourite behind the brilliant Gai
Waterhouse
-trained filly Overreach
at $2.50 after her easy Reisling Stakes win last weekend.

Gary Portelli’s
promising Stratum colt enjoyed a Group 3 win last time out when beating home a
decent field by an easy 3.5 lengths in the Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Warwick
Farm and will be hard to beat again if accepted on Saturday.

The two other Golden Slipper fancies under triple-figures in
the futures markets that are entered for the Pago are then Sidestep ($26) and the Bjorn
Baker
-trained Windjammer.

Peter Snowden’s
Exceed And Excel colt Sidestep has had just three runs so far and remains a maiden.

Runner-up in the black Opal Stakes two back, Sidestep was
one of the top chances in the Todman Stakes on the weekend but they lost their
rider Corey Brown at the start of the race.

Bernardini colt Windjammer meanwhile is another maiden out
for their breakthrough win.

They too ran in the Group 2 Todman on the weekend and in a
smart effort dead-heated for fourth which was their third fourth place finish on
the trot.

Other notable juveniles nominated for the 2013 Pago Pago
Stakes then include the John O’Shea-trained
Diamond Oasis who won on debut last time
out at Gosford, Danny O’Brien’s Excitable Boy coming off a credible
third in a Moonee Valley black type from a fortnight back, Skyline Stakes third
placegetter Dothraki and the John Sargent-trained Good Job Bro.

Check out the nominees below and stay tuned for the official
Pago Pago Stakes field to be published on Wednesday.
